　　The superconvergence of finite element was discovered as early as 1977 in the calculation of DAMS, independently of the Czech scholar M in 1978.Zlamal creatively proposed the unit analysis method and demonstrated the superconvergence of finite element. After that, he made a series of creative works, published 70 articles and 4 monographic books at home and abroad, and made international leading achievements in the theory and application of finite element superconvergence。Two international conferences on finite element superconvergence in Finland in 1996 and in the United States in 2000 have recognized Chinese superconvergence research as one of the three major schools in the world, and Chen is the main representative of the Chinese school。In 1999, the monograph "Finite element High-precision Theory" won the second prize of Science and Technology Progress of the Ministry of Education, and in 2001, the project "Finite Element Superconvergence and its Application" won the first prize of Science and Technology Progress of Hunan Province (exclusive).。

　　At present, he is the head of the sub-project "Nonlinear Problem Multi-solution Approximation and Superconvergence Research" of the national 973 project "Large-scale Scientific Computing Research"。In recent years, a new method of multi-solution for nonlinear problems, the search extension method, has been creatively proposed, and new results have been obtained for the calculation of multi-solution, solution distribution and structure。
